Treasury Select Committee inquiry into SME lending after Barndoor lobbying campaign

Barndoor Strategy was delighted today as the Treasury Select Committee announced that it would be holding an inquiry into the issue of SME lending.

We have been working with our client Allica Bank on this issue for a number of months now following the proposals that were buried in the Bank of England consultation CP 16/22 on implementing the remaining parts of Basel 3.1 in the UK.

As well as helping with their consultation submission, we have held meetings with Ministers, officials, and Select Committee members, as well as hosted a number of events in Parliament to engage with stakeholders on this matter.

We are delighted that our messaging has got through to the Treasury Select Committee and that they will be looking in detail at this hugely important issue. We look forward to engaging with the Committee along with Allica Bank moving forward.
