Barndoor Strategy was delighted to host a hugely successful Parliamentary Reception for our long-term client GoHenry last night.
Kindly hosted by Claire Hazelgrove MP (Lab, Filton and Bradley Stoke), the event was titled the First Annual Financial Education Reception. It brought together stakeholders from across the financial services and education sectors to celebrate the good news from the Curriculum and Assessment Review that financial education will be compulsory on the national curriculum for all young people at primary and secondary school level from September 2028.
The event featured speeches by Louise Hill, Founder of GoHenry, Amanda Hack MP, Chair of the APPG on Financial Education for Young People, and perhaps most importantly, Eashan Brown, a member of the GoHenry Kids Advisory Board who was giving a young person’s perspective on the issue.
The reception was attended by Members of all parties and both houses, illustrating the strength of feeling on all sides about the importance of financial education and the success of the work GoHenry and Barndoor have done on this issue.
While there was much to celebrate at this event, the hard work continues to ensure that the new curriculum really delivers on equipping young people with the financial skills they need to succeed in the real world.
