Barndoor Strategy Managing Director, David Spencer, was delighted to join our colleagues at the Association for Competitive Technology (ACT) for a roundtable with the Labour MP for Milton Keynes Central, Emily Darlington as part of ACT’s Developed Tour.
Emily, who also sits on the Science, Innovation, and Technology Select Committee heard from a range of tech SMEs and entrepreneurs, based in the Milton Keynes area about the challenges and opportunities of starting and scaling a tech business in the region.
It was a wonderful opportunity for small businesses to bend the ear of an influential MP who is on their side and committed to using every lever available to her to enable SMEs like those ACTs members present at this roundtable to grow in Milton Keynes rather than in London or overseas.
Emily is one of the few MPs who really gets tech and understands how tech SMEs and not unicorns are where the real growth and opportunity in the UK lies.
Barndoor will continue its work with ACT to help spread the word and engage with policymakers to ensure that tech SMEs have the best possible regulatory and policy environment to grow and flourish right here in the UK and in places like Milton Keynes.
