The Future of Financial Services APPG, which Barndoor Strategy provides the Secretariat for, has released its 2026 Survey on Cryptocurrencies, Young People, and Regulation

This is a new survey to gather evidence on how young people engage with cryptocurrencies and crypto assets, and what this means for financial regulation in the UK.

Cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin are increasingly visible to young people through investment platforms, online content, new technologies and social media discussion. While crypto assets may offer new opportunities, the APPG is seeking evidence on the potential risks they can pose, including volatility, misinformation, financial harm and consumer protectionchallenges.

The survey is aimed at cryptocurrency and digital asset firms, financial services providers, consumer and youth representative bodies, and online content creators and influencers in the money and investing space. It invites respondents to share practical experience of how young people access crypto-related information, make decisions, understand risks and benefits, and interact with financial institutions when seeking crypto investment or exposure.

Responses will help inform APPG discussions and future policy recommendations on how innovation, education and consumer protection can be balanced effectively. The survey is exploratory and evidence-gathering in nature, rather than a consultation on specific legislative proposals.

The APPG is encouraging eligible organisations and individuals to respond as fully as possible, drawing on their experience and perspective. Aggregate findings may be referenced in future APPG outputs, but individual responses will not be attributed without consent.
